Update - Due date, spotting and doctor drama

A little update on me! Since I hadn't had AF since Avery was born, my doctor sent me for an early ultrasound. I had that Aug. 1, showing I was about 5 weeks. Word to the wise: Avoid ultrasounds that early if you can. Ahh! They could really only see a gestational sac at that point, so I've spent two weeks fretting, especially since I started spotting a week ago today. I know tons of women spot and go on to have healthy pregnancies, but I was super worried because I never had any bleeding with Avery. So I called my doctor the morning it happened. No return phone call. I called again the next day. Was assured that they would give the message to the doctor. NOTHING. By day three (the spotting only lasted the one day) I was so furious that the doctor hadn't called me that I decided to switch practices (hey, I switched at 20 weeks last time, what's switching at 5?!) So after calling for the third time on Friday, my original doctor finally returned my phone call, not extremely apologetic and saying that she hadn't gotten the original message. Well, if your front office staff is that incompetent, I don't want to be involved anyway. Plus there are THREE doctors, and if they can't manage to return a phone call of that nature...? I mean, yeah, you can really only wait and see at that point, but come on. My new doctor called me back and talked to me and made me feel a lot better that the amount of spotting was nothing to be concerned about. Then the morning sickness kicked in, so I was feeling good that things were probably still going ok in there. But still, I felt a TON better when we went in for my "progress" ultrasound which showed I was 7 weeks and a little flickering heart. So, I'm much relieved. Due date is April 3.

And yeah, morning sickness? AHHH! I had nothing last time and it's SO SO different this time. So not fun.

You must have missed it! It's hanging around somewhere. :)

And yes, this morning I was throwing up while Avery was in her high chair crying for breakfast. I was like "I'm crying too!" LOL.

Congrats! April is a wonderful time for a birthday (I'm a bit biased, mine is 4/18, lol!!) So sorry to hear about the morning sickness, I hope it doesn't hang around too long.

I don't blame you for switching practices. If a doctor is unresponsive to questions and concerns, what are they good for, really?? So glad the spotting turned out to be nothing, I had it on and off for about 7 weeks and it sucked. Hard not to worry, but having my doctor tell me firmly and patiently a few times that it was normal, not a miscarriage, etc. definitely helped. Had she dismissed my concerns or not responded at all, I would have found someone new too!

Hey, if I remember from the WTT a long while back, you were moving to NJ from CA, is that right?

Yes!! Good memory! I remember you giving me all the NJ advice. :) We're in NJ now, Scotch Plains. It's not California but we're enjoying it! Minus traffic and some attitudes here and there. Haha.

And thanks for the thoughts on the doctor. I thought maybe I was overreacting but I kept thinking "This is their JOB!" And everyone I've talked to seems to be very surprised at their lack of attentiveness, so I'm not feeling so crazy any more. :)

I love Scotch Plains, it's such a neat little town with so many cool looking houses. My dad grew up in Clark & I grew up in N. Plainfield and Whitehouse Station, so we drove through Scotch Plains on a regular basis visiting my grandparents.

I still drive through occasionally when satisfying a serious craving for the White Diamond in Clark. :) Union County traffic is rough though, for sure.

Erin, so glad that everything is okay! I would be worried, too, if I were you, I always wait until 6 weeks now for an ultrasound (one early one when I had my m/c was enough to turn me off of them altogether). How funny your pregnancy is so different than with Avery--think it means boy for you? Hehe
