My hospital is doing this too Noel :-( My new mom's group and breastfeeding support group are canceled until further notice.

Sorry about everything being canceled and stuff, it really sucks.

Where are you delivering again?

Awwww, I'm sorry! I see where they're coming from, but it just really sucks. I guess I will have to ask that too, if my son can come to visit in the hospital after the baby is born.

Dang that H1N1 virus! :(

Oh man, that really stinks, Noel! I would be so upset too if they said my kids couldn't come visit the baby and I! I wonder if my hospital is doing this too and if it will still be happening in April. I guess it's good they are being cautious and all, but that sucks!

Boulder Community Hopsital.

I'm seriously considering vetoing my family & switching to a home birth! I'm going to at least see if it's possible with cost & insurance

That's the closest hospital to me ;-)

Is there any chance they'll loosen the restrictions by the time the baby comes? I heard the swine flu restrictions might be reevaluated after November, I guess tho seasonal flu restrictions might still be around...

Good luck with the decisions!

Our hospital has done this too, and I am ticked off. I told DH that he is going to put G in a duffel bag if we have to, but he will be coming to see me. It ticks me off even more because it is not just people under the age of 18 that are getting H1N1. I work in family practice and of all of the cases of H1N1 that we have diagnosed, I'd say less than 50% have been in kids and the adults are worse than the kids. The CDC changes it's mind ever other day though so it may be a mute point soon (let's pray)

It's always possible that they may revisit & change the policy before December. I

Oh Noel... I'm so sorry!!!! I hope the hospital changes it's policy by december. Not only it sounds a bit extreme, but also inconsistant. (As you said, they should be banning all visitors not only kids...).

Oh, wow, that's awful! Why the heck don't they just do something like require proof of vaccination instead? And do it for *all* visitors? You know, something that would actually help, instead of just making it look like they're doing something. I'd be looking into home birth options too :\
