Hi!

I decided to start our new 6+ months board because I really wanted to update what I've been doing, since it has been at least a week, probably more since I've posted.

I first started the wrong titled discussion (smacks head) sorry about that, but I think I got the front page set up now, and I do read faithfully, so I think I can handle updating it as well if there are any great announcements or something needs to change.

So, we aren't trying this month, I needed a break desperately, but I did send off my e-mail to my ob/gyn, and hopefully I get the referral soon, and the appointment isn't too far in the future.

Because I have been trying to take a break from TTC this month, I haven't been posting much because I am not temping, or opaking this month, and trying to limit how much I even think about it to keeping up with you guys.

In other news, I have two last assignments and my clear credential program is done (One of I should really be doing today... now... but I'll get to it in a minute) so that has been keeping me busy, and I am glad to have that just about done.

Also, I just joined a CSA program near us, and I am super excited about getting a random box of super fresh produce each week (you can read more about it on my blog).

The school year has about a month left, and this was such a tough year, I am really looking forward to my nothing summer. I am going to Colorado with my family for a few days, but otherwise, I intend to read, garden, and maybe do an art class for fun, and things like that.

Once my program ends, I'll be better with personals, but I did want to say that Jenni, I am sorry to hear that they don't have many options for you besides IVF, and I hope that you guys can save quickly and then it works like a charm for you, or that there is some other option that they don't know about yet.

Let's start the month off with some random questions, shall we?

Friends:
1. To you, what is the difference between a friend, an acquaintance and a coworker?
2. How long have you known your longest friend for? (since a grade level, or college, or first job etc.)
3. Were you and your husband/SO friends before you were dating?
4. If one of your friends wants to hang out, what will you do together?

Food:
5. If you had to choose 15 ingredients that were all you could eat for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
6. What is one item that is on your grocery list every week?
7. When/if you buy produce, where do you get it from, and what amount, if any of it is organic?

I'll post mine in a day or two, but I am looking forward to reading your guys (Although my answer to number 5 is on my blog already :-) )

Friends:
1. To you, what is the difference between a friend, an acquaintance and a coworker?

To me, a friend is someone who I want to and enjoy spending time with, even it it doesn't happen often. An acquaintance is someone I know and occasionally see but have no desire to make plans with even though I can have a friendly conversation with them if the situation arises. A coworker is just someone I work with- I am friends with some of my coworkers, though.

2. How long have you known your longest friend for? (since a grade level, or college, or first job etc.)

Since 7th grade!

3. Were you and your husband/SO friends before you were dating?

Yep! We were friends for around 6 months before dating.

4. If one of your friends wants to hang out, what will you do together?

Hike, go wine tasting, talk over a meal, go for a walk, cook up something yummy, etc.

Food:
5. If you had to choose 15 ingredients that were all you could eat for the rest of your life, what would you choose?

Oh man, that's hard. tomato, basil, garlic, bread, pasta, chicken, olive oil, parmesan cheese, lemon, avocado, cilantro, jalapeno, lime, egg, and chocolate

6. What is one item that is on your grocery list every week?

tomatoes!

7. When/if you buy produce, where do you get it from, and what amount, if any of it is organic?

Usually just from the grocery store, but sometimes the farmers market.

Thanks, Lisa! Fun questions! I love the 15 ingredient thing. That was hard!

Lisa, thanks for setting up the thread. I hope you get your referral quickly. I LOVE the idea of the CSA and have started looking into one by me. I found one that delivers, and hope they come all the way out to me. So yummy! Good luck getting those last few things done to clear your credential. I hated that!

Jenni, I'm sorry your appointment wasn't good. That sounds a lot like our first urologist appointment, before we found someone who only did infertility. One of the things they do to check for retrograde ejac is by examining urine after ejaculating looking for sperm. If your DH's urine looks cloudy after a release, that's likely what's happening. I can't remember if there was a medication or procedure to correct that- I feel like there was for some causes. Sorry, it's been over a year since I did that research. Good luck figuring out what to do.

Hey guys! Happy May! Thanks for setting up the thread Lisa!

Here're my survey answers (friends & food, two of my favorite things!) :) ... personals to come!

Friends:
1. To you, what is the difference between a friend, an acquaintance and a coworker?
When asked by a friend "How are you!?", I answer honestly. With an acquaintance, I always say "fine!" Coworkers can be anything from frenemies to wonderful friends for me.

2. How long have you known your longest friend for?
Since Kindergarten (28 years - and would you believe, she's dealing with IF too!)

3. Were you and your husband/SO friends before you were dating?
Nope, we met on a blind date.

4. If one of your friends wants to hang out, what will you do together?
walk down to the beach, get coffee, go on a hike, go shopping, go out to lunch, take their kids to the park and chat while they play

Food:
5. If you had to choose 15 ingredients that were all you could eat for the rest of your life, what would you choose?
Oooo, tough! 1) Chicken 2) onions 3) olive oil 4) eggs 5) garlic 6) greens 7) avocados 8) french bread 9) tomatoes 10) cheese 11) peanut butter 12) strawberries 13) chocolate 14) milk 15) AllSpice :)

6. What is one item that is on your grocery list every week?
avocados

7. When/if you buy produce, where do you get it from, and what amount, if any of it is organic?
Grocery stores (usually Trader Joes and Whole Foods) and farmer's markets during summer. We buy about 90% organic

JENNI-I'm sorry your appointment on Friday wasn't more encouraging. Ugh on not getting more information - that is so frustrating. :o(

CORTNEY-hope your mom's visit is going well (and things are being kept veiled as well as possible!) :) Did you get your list together for the RE this week? I hope it goes well!

LISA-Congrats on getting your clear credential (almost) done!! We usually do a CSA in the summer and it's great!! Enjoy! :)

ANDREA-10DPO and some good lookin' temps there! Are you planning on POAS anytime soon? ;) FX!

LEILA- This is your au'naturale cycle right? Looks like you got some good timing in there! Hope you're doing well...

Waving HI to everyone else!

AFM - well, I O'd a bit earlier than I hoped I would... it is going to be a real toss-up to see if AF comes too soon for us to do IUI in May. We will definitely still be in Hawaii when AF shows, it's just a question if we can get back by CD5 in order to do the tests and start the clomid. It's gonna be really, really close. Send some "long LP" vibes my way. :) Otherwise, we had a great weekend. I went to a friend's baby shower yesterday... there must've been alcohol in the punch or something because I was in a pretty happy mood. :p Now I'm just finishing up packing and getting ready to leave. I'll probably check in a couple times while on vacation, but not too much, so I hope everyone has a great couple of weeks. Aloha! :)

Jumping in real quick while mom is taking a nap. I'll answer the survey after she's gone--I still have to come up with my 15 ingredients.

I went to the "dentist" this morning (aka monitoring u/s and blood work) and it looks good for now. I have one follie at 12mm on the right, with two more at 9mm. I'm really hoping the other two will catch up before the lead one needs to be triggered. I would be thrilled to have 3 mature follies! They will call me this afternoon with the blood results and let me know if I'm going to change my med doses. Then I go in on Wednesday for more blood work, another follie check, and the SSH to look at the fibroid again. So far the secrecy has been kept, but it might be hard to continue it through the whole week.

Hi Andi! Thanks for chart stalking me. I am a wee bit optimistic, but I am just not sure I feel like I think I would feel if I were pg. Not that I know what I will feel like, as I've never been pg before! Your food list is similar to what mine will be. I'm addicted to avocados :-)

I'm sorry your early O might throw things off, but maybe you don't need to worry about it. Perhaps this is your BFP cycle!

I feel like my temps are just a bit "too steady"- if I am pg, wouldn't I see some volatility in my temps to indicate crazy hormones and changes in my body? And, since the temps started off immediately 2 days after O looking different from normal, I feel like it must not be due to being pg because I can't imagine I would have strange temps starting that early after O. Of course, I hope I get a BFP, but I just feel so normal right now. I guess we'll see what my temps are doing at the end of the week...

I'm so not a POAS addict- I dread the damn things and have always held off testing and just waited for AF after my first cycle when I saw the dreaded BFNs. But, if my temps look good on Friday I think I will test because I am supposed to go in for bloodwork the second I get a BFP because of my high risk for ectopic. If I don't go in on Friday, I would have to wait until Monday. So, depending on my temps, I'm going with a Friday test date. I have had some light headedness the last few days- don't know if that is a symptom, but I've had a few incidents when I thought I was going to pass out. Who knows... Could just be the stress of it all.

Grow follies grow! I hope things proceed smoothly for you, Cortney. Do you think your mom is suspecting anything at all? Have you thought of how you might tell her if it becomes too hard to keep secret? Hang in there, and grow them follies!

Well, those steady high temps are a thing of the past. Temp went way down today at 12 DPO, which is typically when I start getting lower temps before AF. I feel my AF backache and know she is on her way. I am trying not to be too disappointed- since I am leading a group of 16 college students for a study abroad in West Africa for 2 weeks in June, it is probably a good thing I'm not pg. I just hate that I won't be trying in May, and will probably not be able to in June depending on when I O. So, now I am going to have to get my mind ready for the next couple of months on hold.

Lisa - I hope that you enjoy the CSA - we participated in on elast year - but discovered that we wren't using the food as fast as it came in - I'm the only one who'd fond of all sorts of fruits and veggies, so when we started to cut back our spending, that's one of the first things that went. I thought it was awesome, and just loved it. I also had a great summer. Thanks for the positive wishes.

RANDOM QUESTIONS:
FRIENDS:
1) for me I guess, acquaintences are people I know. They're not as close as friends and co-workers becasue I don't spent too much time with them. It's also a caniging category - I have people who used to be friends, but we're not close anymore, so now they're acquaintences. Friends are people I'm close to. This is generally a pretty small list. Co-workers are their own category. Some I would consider friends, and the others are more than acquaintences, but I don't know how well many of the relationships would fare once we no longer work together. Thankfully - there's not anyone I work with closely anymore that I wouldn't put on the friend side of the spectrum instead of someone I have to put up with.

2) I've been frioends with one of my best friends since I was about 12. We've done a bit of role switching. She was the crazy one, and I was the one who wanted to settle down early and have a family. Not I work, and she's a homeschooling SAHM with 3 kids.

3)I'd say that we were acquaintences. Mutual friends of ours invited us to the same game night - So we knew each other for almost a year before we started dating - but we weren't close enough to be friends.

4) We've got our own game night now - every other monday... Mostly Dave';s friends. And then a couple of fridays a month some of my friends come over for "sci-Fi Friday" I get a chance to hang out - chat, watch tv or a movie, and cook fun food. My best friend and I don't spend as much time together anymore - but I need to call her - the plan is to get her out of the house for an evening - otherwise, We just sit around and visit.

FOOD:
5) 1) Garlic 2) Salt 3) Cinnamon 4) Flour 5) Eggs 6) Whole (not homogenized) Milk 7) Honey 8) Yeast 9) Chicken 10) Salmon 11) Strawberries 12) Green Beans 13) Apples 14) Onions 15) Cheese

So the food list isn't exactly the list of my favorite foods, I tried to give myself as many options with as few ingredients as possible.

6) we really only shop once a month - other than quick pick-ups in the middle - But we always have Chicken on the list.

7) Produce - from costco or safeway usually. I buy organic if it's available and not horrendously expensive. We did the CSA lat year - and that was all organic - and I do like to hit fruit stands/farmer's markets when I have time during the growing season.

Wow - That was long.
