TTC Now/This Year Chat- June

The thread was getting awfully long and since there still aren't many who are going to TTC yet I figured we'd just keep the thread the same it was until we get a few more who are going to actively TTC. Anyway here is a little roll call to get things going:

Name/partner's name:

When will you TTC and if you're not sure when do you think?

What are you doing to pass the time?

Are you doing anything fun this summer?

Anything else to add?

I am getting sooo much more excited for you Amy!! FX!!! I hope you get your BFP!

I need to kick my caffine habit. I notice on the weekend I am getting withdrawls...headaches! :/ I have a iced coffe every weekday morning when I get to work. YUM! But they have a lot of caffine and caloirs both of which I want to limit! I think I am going to just not buy my coffee anymore...maybe make myself one while at work if I REALLY need or want one but it will also save money not buying them anymore.

I did a relay for life today with/for my Aunt today who is mid-way through heer chemo treatments for breast cancer right now. She was abl to participate and we had a lot of fun!! :-) I got a nice sun burn on my arms :/

A friend that I have known since jr high just announced her pregnancy today on FB. This is #3 for her in th time I have had my daughter!! Her 1st son was born right after my daughter. Her 2nd son is a year old and now she is preggo again!! Sooo happy for hr but sooooo jealous! lol

Sandy, the x sperm do tend to live/survive longer than the y, which is why DTD a few days before ovulation is suggested.  The problem, as you mentioned, is that it's hard to know exactly when you'll o.  Of course, the only surefire way is IVF with PGD.

Yay Ruby!  How exciting that you're ready to TTC.  Any news on the certification/registration/whatever it's called for your job?

Mandy, what a sweet comment from your DH!

Amy, hope you get that 20 week bloat!

E, are you recently off of hormonal b/c?  For me, there is no correlation between cycle length and AF, and I've charted over 40 cycles.  I just had a 24 day cycle and the longest/heaviest AF I've had in years.  The endometrial lining is related to your hormones, not necessarily simply cycle length.  Do you know if your LP was shorter than normal?  If so, you probably didn't have a strong ovulation, and thus less progesterone in your LP to inhibit endometrial growth.  Stress can affect your hormornes, which sounds like you've been dealing wtih at work.  Your body may have had a hard time ovulating this cycle, which would lead to the longer cycle and heavy AF.  I can explain the relationship between hormones, endometrium lining, LP, etc in more detail if you want, but I don't want to bore!  When I took that reproductive biology class in college, I never expected to be using so much of that knowledge! (mostly dealing with infertility)

I wish I knew when I was going to ovulate and start my next cycle, because I really want to nail down my travel plans.  It is so hard talking to my mom about coming to visit sometime around mid July and not telling her why I don't have definitive dates.  I'm also anxious for the IUI itself.  I will be so happy if it works on the first try, but if it doesn't, I'll drink plenty of mai tais and go diving several times when we go to Hawaii.  Probably won't be able to do IUI in August, as we'll be gone.  Two of my good friends had babies in the last two weeks, which is making it even harder!!  Oh, those cuddly squishy little newborns!

Thanks Amy, I hadn't heard that before. Wish I had charted this month so I'd know for sure if that was true for me! Good luck the next few days, I hope AF doesn't show Wednesday! :smileyhappy:

Mandy - I need to kick the caffeine too! I'm up to about 3 cups a day on average. I'll drink regular black coffee most of the time (at home) so money and calories are both not an issue but I know the caffeine is not healthy.
Relay for life with your aunt sounds nice. :smileyhappy: Sorry to hear about your old friend having babies left and right!:smileywink:

Emmy - the scientific explanation is great, and really interesting! I appreciate it. It sounds like I really need to get a handle on my stress. Otherwise my cycles will continue to be affected, and that might make TTC more difficult. I wonder what I could do to help?
I do worry sometimes about my progesterone levels and whether or not I ovulate strong enough. I'll start charting again soon and see what kind of data I have. If I have to have a talk with my doctor I want to be prepared.

Hope your travel plans get nailed down soon. Hawaii sounds a m a z i n g !!

Ruby - Congrats on TTC #2.  Wishing you all the best.

Amy - Rob is too much sometimes.  He cracks me up.

E - I had a friend who could not coneive for the longest time; until she cut all the stress out of her life, including quiting her job (she knew she was going to be a SAHM as well) and once she did cut the stress boom so got PG.  If you're not up to all the TTC business why not just chart (smyptons, not temps) and NPP... less stress that way.

In regards to all this AF talk, etc.... my AF is still so out of whack and I really think I might have endo.  AF hasn't lasted long since Teddy comes, only about 1 and a half days... really short, but really heavy and I am passing lots of tissue (sorry TMI).  The cramps are what get me though, they last until CD4 or 5 and then come back with a vengence around CD 14.  My cycles are lasting 26 to 36 days typically, but AF is just so short... almost too short.  The new MW practice I was looking at offers a "meet and greet", so I'm going to set that up shortly and if all goes well transfer over there and get these cramps looked into further.

And a further AFM  - DH and I talked more this weekend about #3, and at first he said he wasn't sure he wanted #3, I about wigged out because we agreed on #3 years ago.  But it turns out that he isn't ready right now, which is fine.  I'm not either.  We need to get his condition under control before we can talk about TTC.  He then said he wouldn't mind 2 or 3 more... Ha!!!  I am no spring chicken.

Mandy, what a cute comment by your DH

E-Stress can be a huge factor on cycles. I agree with the suggestion to NPP instead of chart...thats our approach and I love it. No pressure and keeps it fun and exciting instead of a chore, imo.

Emmy, good luck with your cycle and knowing your travel dates! I'm excited for you!

Kate, sorry about your wonky, maybe endo cycles....i hope it all makes sense soon.

AFM,
As for my registration, its in process and it could be another 6 months. My boss has said that he will not pursue it at this point as he knows I'm doing my part and that having those extra letters behind my name doesnt mean much because I'm doing a good job anyway. So thats a relief, but still hoping it comes through soon.

I had my big birthday party this weekend even though my birthday was in May. Lots of sun, booze, hot tub time, pontoon rides and drinking games until 430am last night. I'm tired, but it was super fun. Ready to start the TTC train once I get this bloodwork out of the way.

Was in the middle of a post when my browser crashed so now I don't have time for it all. Will do it tomorow

Anyway I am 7 dpo accd to FF and I'm having tender breasts already. I'm on CD 21 and thinking it'll be 27 or 28 day cycle since accd to FF I o'ed on CD 14 since my temp went up the day after. I also have cramping. I think maybe I'm reading into it but I never have sore breasts this early. usually a few days before AF. I am not testing before 28 days because there is no reason to. I'm not wasting tests and not testing until I"m late but with my wacky cycles after the pill what is late for me?? I guess if I O on CD 14 then probably CD 30.

I'll keep you posted and will re write everything else tomorrow.

Well AF just showed. I had thought I O'd on CD 18 because I thought I'd had EWCM (I never check CM so honestly I could have been way off). Apparently not! Guess we're on to cycle #3. I was just starting to get hopeful too because last night's dinner made me very nauseated but I guess it was just the food :smileysad:
