Find a Conversation

For those of you who haven't been reading my blog, but still remember me, and think from time to time about what is Lisa doing... I wanted to drop you a few lines with our current "status."
One of my Christmas presents was that Blake said we could begin the adoption process! I am super excited, and my over achiever nature is already diving in. I have already sent in the adoption application, and I think I will be able to get the homestudy application in on Tuesday. I am working on getting my passport, because apparently that's an important part of this whole process too. Unfortunately for me, before I can get my passport, I need to get my birth certificate, because my mom can't find it. So that's a goal for tomorrow as well.
The agency we decided on is Adoption Advocates international, and we are planning on adopting a 3-4 yr old boy from Ghana (we are open to girls too, but apparently 75-80% ask for girls, so there are more boys that need homes). Unlike my normal self, we didn't choose this agency/country based on copious research, but instead I found a few people's blogs who highly recommended this one woman who works with Ghana for AAI, and I started reading her blog, and felt extremely strongly that I wanted to work with her... so we are!
Once the applications are both submitted, there will be a bit of a wait time while we wait for the adoption agency and home study agency to get back to us on next steps, training, etc.
Like most of you probably know, it is a long process, and could be late 2012 that we finally have a child at home... but I just glad that the process is started, and we are on our way towards having a child. :-)
p.s. I probably still won't be on much, but I'll try to drop by with updates every so often if there is something to report, or you can just read my blog below... I say more on there.
