Very short AF?

Hey ladies - question for you all. AF showed up on Sunday, and this is the first one since my m/c. It was acting normal, starting medium, then getting heavier, then getting lighter again. BUT, it did it over the course of 2 days!

I've had short AF's before (3 days), but usually have spotting 1-2 days after as well. This was two days of medium-heavy flow, and now nothing. It's really strange - not that I'm complaining that it's short, but I'm wondering if it's cause for concern?

Does anyone know if this is an issue or not? I tried looking it up in TCOYF, but all it said was that it "usually" lasts for about five days (which mine rarely has).

TIA for any input!

Alyssa,

My AF was messed up after my miscarriage, but in a different way--it started out differently and was heavy for longer, and I spotted for days after AF was basically done, which I normally never do . . .

I would sort of say that it is normal for AF to be weird after a m/c though. Unless you have pain or are concerned, I would assume everything is okay.

Thanks Adrienne - I guess I shouldn't be surprised that AF would be different after a m/c.

Funny enough, I just went to the bathroom and AF is back. Strange. After no bleeding since before I went to bed yesterday, it's back and quite heavy. I guess AF isn't something I can predict as easily this cycle :P

Yeah, that doesn't surprise me. It felt like my body was really getting rid of everything that they didn't get with the D+C--so it was definitely weird.

I also have the odd thing where AF comes, then appears to go, and then comes back. I asked my doctor about it and she didn't seem concerned.

Thanks Missy - I'm glad it doesn't seem to be an indicator of a problem. It'll be interesting to see what AF does in the future (if I don't get PG).

Hi Alyssa! My first AF was short after my miscarriage. It was the second AF that I noticed was heavier and longer and then it went back to three days and remained that way until we got pregnant again. I also noticed my AF was right on time after the second AF and came like clockwork which it never did before the miscarriage. It took me two AF's to regulate back to normal. I am glad to hear AF arrived I know it was a good day for me for it signaled to me that my body had healed and Geoff and I decided to start trying again.
