This story from Good Morning America just amazed me, it shows a woman giving her 8 yo daughter Botox treatments to fill out "wrinkles?" in her face:

The thought of putting a girl in a pageant makes me so uncomfortable... Even if the child asked me, I would say NO. Beauty pageants are all about sex appeal, (otherwise they would try so hard to look like grown women), in my book that is creepy to say the least. As fro this particular woman, she seems to have even deeper issues than most stage moms... I can't imagine putting a child through the pain of injections just for the sake of so called "beauty".

I'm 29 years old and dont have any wrinkles, WTH is this "mother" thinking?

The mother claims her daughter asked for them...first how does this 8 year old even know about Botox? Second, as her PARENT, its her job to say NO and put her child's best interests first.

This little girl isnt even close to fully developed or grown so this mother is altering her child's appearance before it has even blossomed fully. This little girl is so cute, she looks like an 8 year old is supposed to look like. It makes me sad that the pageant culture has already sent the message to this little girl that she isnt good enough and has to take drastic measures in order to "fit in." And we all know beauty is hard work and fleeting, so she'll always be chasing that impossible dream of perfection to fit in.
I
I completely disagree with child pageants, modeling, etc etc. I know that this is an extreme example but where does it end? These mothers shoudl stop living vicariously through their children, stop placing value on their child's looks and stop sending the message that beauty is the only thing that matters and let their kids, be kids...that get dirty, wear kid clothes, laugh and play without false teeth, bad wigs and spray tans.

Ugh ugh ugh...this makes me sick.

I guess the little girl has seen the mom give herself Botox injections, so of course the little girl is going to want to to the same things to "look pretty".
