It's weird, I had a friend who was murdered two years ago. I just found out that his killer was sentenced to life in prison without parole today. In some way, it brought satisfaction, that justice has been served. On the other hand, the trial was a month long--his parents and brother have had to relive this all over again. And nothing is going to bring him back.

Sigh, it just made me realize how much this is the beginning for Carly. I hope in the future, we can take care of children and people better so that they don't turn into murderers.

Adrienne - it's great that your friend's killer was sentenced to life without parole. The justice system doesn't always work that way. But you're right - of course it doesn't bring your friend back. But how strange that this should happen just three days after what happened to Carly's DH. I can only hope the outcome is the same for his murderer. But you are absolutely right - I'm sure the last three days have felt like three decades to Carly. I can't imagine this being just the beginning. I know we've had a fantastic response to her registry thread, I just wish I could do so much more for her. :(

Adrienne -

Your friend wouldn't happen to have been Dan would it? He's my husband's first cousin. We were all very glad that justice was served as best as it could be.

OMG yes! Wow what a small world. I first became friends with him when he was still in HS and I was in college and we worked together, and as soon as I saw him I thought he looked like a cool person and we were pretty much friends right away. I was so thrilled that he was so happy in Boston and seemed to really be finding himself and everything, and then for his life to be ended so suddenly--it was just so so sad, and I know his family has been through so much with the trial. Sigh.

Give your hubby a squeeze for me.
