Prayers and PT for my Aunt

Hey ladies, I need your prayers and positive thoughts for my Aunt. She went in today for an angioplasty and a stint and found out that those won't worked. Her heart is too blocked and she has to have open heart surgery this week or next. The surgeon said that her doctor saved her life. She wasn't feeling well and in March went in and the doctor told her to quit smoking (she had been for 45 years) - he actually stomped on her cigarettes in the office.

So we are waiting to hear when she is going in...so if you can keep her in your thoughts I would appreciate it.

Thanks Ladies. My mom called last night and said they scheduled the bypass for May 17th. They had to wait longer than they wanted to because she just quit smoking and her heart doctor wants her to have more smoke free weeks. He wasn't sure she would make it if they didn't wait.

She has one artery blocked 80%, another blocked 90% and the third blocked 100%. So there is one doing the work of all four. So she is on bed rest pretty much until the 17th. So I am so glad they found it when they did, otherwise I think we would have been going to a funeral.

Thanks Leona - I am not as worried about her heart but more how her lungs react to the surgery...My FIL had a quintuple bypass about 12 years ago now and the same - out of control diabetes.

She did mention that she has another "disease" that my grandma had, but couldn't remember the name...So now it's just bedrest and wait and see how the surgery goes.

I'll be keeping your aunt in my prayers. I also have an aunt (my favorite and also my godmother) who has been smoking for about 50 years and I really wish she would quit. She now has a nerve disorder that has affected her speech and mobility but she still won't give up the cigs. We don't know if it's related but it certainly can't be helping. She has tried to quit a few times (the longest was even 9 months) but just can't kick the habit.

Please KUP on her surgery. ((HUGS))

Christine - Isn't it amazing how they can stop for so long and then just pick it back up. 20 years ago this Aunt of mine had a brain aneurysm. Passed out in her car, it almost killed her, the doctor told her she HAD to quit smoking and she did but only for the time she had to which was 6 months. You would think that would be something that would make her and her daughter quit. I really hope that my cousin quits when she says she is going to after her wedding in Sept. her and her fiance both smoke. I told them they wouldn't be able to hold the baby if they had been smoking in their clothes...so we will see.
