Student teaching

I know we've got a lot of teachers on the board. As some of you know, I'll finally be doing my student teaching this semester after postponing it for a year. I start next week and I'm in a kindergarten class. I'm really excited and nervous at the same time but I think I'm more worried about getting out of the house every morning with Selin (brings back the anxiety I had when I went back to my FT job after mat leave).

Anywho, for all the teachers out there...any words of advice for me? Anything you would've done differently during your student teaching?

Thanks! :-$

I totally agree with Andrea about being easy on yourself when you feel like you've had a bad day.

I would say try to do as much as you can--some mentor teachers will just want you to do everything, plan everything, and some would rather you do as little as possible.

Thanks everyone! I survived my first day! It was exhausting but my teacher is wonderful. The kids are funny and much bigger than I imagined they would be!

My teacher said I could pump in the bathroom but on my state, that's illegal and they're supposed to give you a private and sanitary place. Today I just pumped in my car during lunch but I'm going to talk to the nurse tomorrow. The principal is male so I don't think he'll quite understand my situation.

Glad your first day went well and I hope that you can get a better place to pump than the bathroom. I know my Aunt who is a teacher pumps in her room at the end of the day and also in the nurses room
