Vitamin D in Pregnancy

I read this some weeks ago in the paper and meant to post it then, but now I've found the link to the article so better late than never.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/7656620/Large-dose-of-vitamin-D-in-pregnancy-cuts-premature-births-research.html

It's about a new study that has found taking LOTS of vitamin D reduces lots of risks, most importantly the risk of pre-term labour. I thought this is really good to know, especially for those of us TTC or newly pregnant.

Thanks for posting this, Anna! I might have to share it with my EC too.

Vitamin D is actually really important for TTCing as well. Up to 80% of women are deficient in Vitamin D and it can cause fertility problems as well.

Before I got PG, I was taking 1600 IU's of Vitamin D--now I'm probably taking about 800 (some in my prenatal and some in this Calcium/Magnesium/Vit D combo pill I take).

Are IU's and micrograms the same thing?

Vitamin D was one of the things my MWs tested my blood for.
