Soccer fans?? Anyone??
Tomorrow starts the football world cup, and my whole country has turned upside down, as I'm sure Brazil, Germany, England and a few others...
If you want to make any comments about it... This is the thread!

OK. Girls, silly comment....
Check out this argentinian players..... Both goalkeepers, Sergio Romero and Diego Pozo. Cute huh?
(the first guy to talk is Pozo)

(this other one, is Romero, the video is kind of lame, but it's the best I could find)

Heather, that's so cute that your son insists on the "proper name" for the game! :)

ESPN has a pretty neat free World Cup app for the iPhone that has gotten me way more into the whole thing than I expected to get... I should've never told DH about it though because now he's on there constantly looking at stats and stuff!

Me:) I'm watching. I played soccer for a long time. (2nd grade through Freshman year in high school) Gideon is really cute and refuses to call it a soccer ball and says it's a football. He's really getting into it, I'm a proud Mommy:)

Hey Ruth! yay for your DH!!!!
Anna and Alyssa... I feel sorry about the goalkeeper!! He actually stopped the ball and the darn thing slipped!!! Poor dude!
I agree 100% about the noise... We have our own kind of "vuvuzelas" here in S.America, but we don't use it constantly (it's just a blow here and there during the match)... It's so annoying!!

Argh! That goal England let in was terrible - poor guy though. Everyone will remember that one for years to come, even though he made another great save later on.

Yes, the vuvuzelas are kind of annoying! I can kind of tune it out now but, like Anna said, I couldn't imagine what it must be like in the stadium.

Oh, I am so bummed!! How COULD he let that one in? Oh well a draw's better than losing, right? ;-)

Ruth, that annoying noise is made by the fans' vuvuzelas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vuvuzela). I think they tried to ban them before the tournaments started but just couldn't do it as the SA fans love them so much. I cannot imagine what it must sound like to actually be in the stadium; your ears would probably fall off!

Oh and why does the world cup sound like a huge swarm of bees? Do the football fans all have little buzzers in the stands or something? It's even getting on DH's nerves and he's not easily irritated

Mari-

I'm not much of a sports fan in general but DH is OBSESSED with soccer (er, I mean, REAL football). He decided to get wireless modem on his phone service for this month just so he can watch the world cup at work (he works at a gas station so most of his spare time is spent watching movies on his laptop, but no internet). And the team he is rooting for: Argentina!!! Ok ok and U.S. too....depending on who they're playing.... ;)
