Costume boy- more serious than I thought

Ok- My little 2 almost 3 yr old dcg L is here today. He has been adjusting fine- naps well, follows rules, friendly etc. As we know he is TERRIFIED of masks and costumes. I didn't realize it goes as far as sunglasses and binoculars!

A dcb was wearing some funky sunglasses he found in the play room and L went a little nuts- crying, slightly screaming, wringing his hands and mumbling. Then my daughter starts playing with some spy binoculars and he is also afraid of that. I didn't make them stop playing with these items- I feel this kid needs to get a grip and fight through it.

I did write in his daily notes how he reacted to the sunglasses and binoculars and casually asked if they've talked to someone about these phobias. I am trying to put it delicately. But seriously this kid has some big issues. Thank goodness he is only here on T and Th.

Wowza. What did mom say to your note? I totally agree this is pretty involved for a child of his age. I just keep thinking what happened to this child? (I am actually surprised he can nap at your home after you terrify him so often

It's definitely off the charts behavior.

Right now it is a lot of free play- the only consistent routinue is snack time, lunch time, nap time and pm snack time. I am not doing a special routine right now. He pretty much plays with trains and cars all day- did spend time coloring in a coloring book. He sings alot. Likes to listen to music or watch Dora and Deigo. He talks to the other kids and will play along side them. Unfortunately my 6 and 7 yr old don't want him clinging to them so they don't purposively include him.

He seems a little odd- not sure how to decribe it. Maybe the fact that he is 2 but looks like he is 4 is confusing. You expect him to be more mature - like a 4 yr old but he acts like a 2 yr old. The older kids constantly ask "why is he is diapers?" "Why does he use a baby sippy cup?" (one of those nuby ones).

Nan- my husband though the same thing. He wondered if he gets a lot of attention when he freaks. I am trying not to cater to it myself. I think because the sunglasses and binoculars is just too much. I can't help him with that.

My 7 yr old told me that he "doesn't get that kid".

He doesn't like loud noises. I've noticed that.
