Randy's home today. He said he didn't fell well this morning when I woke him up and said he actually felt like he might pass out. Okay! I had one out sick yesterday with diarrhea. I hope if he's still got even a touch of it his mom keeps him home today! My handbook says 24 hours, but when she called yesterday morning she said he had it Monday night--way to cya, Mom! lol The baby's not here today because his older sister is sick so mom had to stay home anyway. The 3yo girl that's here is running a slight temp and coughing up a storm! The 2yo girl yesterday was the same. Neither had/have temps high enough to send home yet, but I'm keeping a close eye on them. The only healthy ones right now are the 3yo boy and the school agers (and the baby, but if it's in his house it's only a matter of time).

Sigh. Whadaya do? Time to pull out the Lysol wipes...

The baby's out sick today. :( Poor thing is only 9 1/2 weeks old. :( Mom said he didn't sleep well last night and is all congested. She's keeping her 5yo home one more day to make sure she's over whatever she had, too.

As far as the other kids, the 3yo girl may not be here today. We'll have to wait and see. She was okay fever-wise when she went home yesterday, but extremely whiny and sensitive, which is really not like her unless something's going on. The 3yo boy is healthy, but has a NASTY bug bite on his neck. It looked awful yesterday. I hope his mom either took care of it last night or takes him in to have it looked at today (she has medical training and is a certified EMT, but this may be a bit out of her league). The 2yo boy was cranky yesterday and has run a slight fever for a couple days now. Not enough to send him home, but enough to make me think something is up. The 2yo girl also ran a slight fever yesterday and her nose is running like a sieve, but that's not unusual. I'm convinced she has allergies but her parents won't have her tested or put her on anything. UGH!!!

The school agers are still healthy as oxes! lol Although they had to come early this morning (6:40) and the 7yo is SO tired! I'm surprised he hasn't fallen asleep yet! lol

It has been a sick winter around here, too.

The coughing & fever, puking & diarrhea... keep an eye/ear out for RSV with the insane coughing...it has been bad in our area. Luckily, the dcb who had it was out for a couple weeks before he got sick so no one else was exposed at my house. Thank goodness, b/c I had a 2 week old baby at the time. It was a near miss, and I have been anal about a strict sickness policy since. A note of caution, though: rsv is contagious for a good week AFTER they get it (babies can be contagious for a month!), so even if there are no excluding symptoms anymore they still have to stay AWAY!

And yea, I have been modifying my illness policy on the fly...if my gut says they are sick regardless of if their symptoms 'qualify', they go. So far, all the parents have been good about not complaining about getting a mildly ill kid sent home....but I have one dcb who was a preemie and the my new baby who is 6wks currently...they all understand that if they bring a sick kid, and my baby ends up in the hospital, I close until everyone (and I mean everyone!) is in perfect health in my family, not just acceptable health.

I've reached the point that if all my families left me because I didn't keep their hacking-up-a-lung kid here b/c he didnt have a fever, so be it.

I can't wait until spring!
