Stacey, I always say the only predictable thing about our job is that it's unpredictable. Thoughts are prayers that you find kids or something soon. Hugs.

Aw, Big hugs! Sorry things are tough. The good thing is - YOUR kids will NOT know you were having this hard time. THey will completely benefit from you being there for everything and THAT IS worth it! It is an investment you are making w/ them now, don't forget that. It WILL pay off later!

As for future clients. Do not offer any more discounts. I HATE discounts. Truly. Figure out what you need to charge each month to make your bills and then divide that among how many kids you can keep. If you need more money get a bigger license that allows it. Get creative w/ your care if you have too. Maybe after school care, school is out care, overnights for big kids, etc.

I am so sad for you, that totally STINKS! Can I ask why you dont offer a Pre-k curriculum for your DC families? I eliminate the need for parents to feel like they have to put their kids in a PreK program by doing a full (and I must say FANTASTIC lol) program with them here. It is good job security because it prolongs their stay with me. In 6 years

I do my curriculum a month at a time. I get some online but the bulk of it I get from our local Smart Start lending library. It is an amazing resource. it is time consuming but I prefer my custom curriculum to the old store bought one I used. I try to incorporate lots of life skills and compassionate learning etc.
