Some ideas for you:

Scent giver such as oil and reeds on a high shelf near front door/parent area

Have dck's plant some scented spring plants near your entrances - can't think of the name of them those purple flowers?

Use colored paper then apply glue in whatever you are learning such as a big letter K then use different things each time to place on the glue such as cotton balls, sand, glitter, pinto beans, etc.

Thanks for all your thoughts. Most of them I do or incorporate.
The hardest one for all 35 of us in the class were the smell sense. The instructor frowned on "artificial scents" like candles, air fresheners, etc. What does that leave? Not much. Many of the people in the class were from centers so it was harder for them to come up with ideas. The few of us that were from in-home daycares could bake muffins in the morning so they smell that in the morning.

Often our daycares smell ok in the AM and by the end of the day it may smell like diapers, play dough, paint, etc. Another big smell that they discussed was the cleaner used in daycares. It was suggested to buy only cleaners that smell super yummy and not bleachy.

Smell is a hard one in a daycare!
