Please share how you do nap.
Hi there, I am new to the forum. But this is the exact topic I have been looking to discuss :)
I have been a child care provider for many years. I have done about 8 years in a center, with one of those years being as Supervisor. I have been doing in home childcare for 3 years now.
I was very lucky when I first started. All three kids I had, plus my own two all napped at the same time, my own 2 in their rooms, the other 3 in my spare room. 2 in playpens and 1 on a mat on the floor.
Now my own 2 no longer nap, my son is almost 4 and my daughter is 6 and in school.
I look after a 16 mon. old, 18 mon. old, 23 mon. old, 2 year old, 3 year old.
The 16, 18, 23 mon. old kids all nap in a playpen in my spare room. I put them down around 11:30 and the get up around 1:30. I will be moving the 23 mon. old to a mat soon.
The 3 year old does not nap, but she does have quiet time looking at books and my son 4, watches TV.
I just started the 2 year old yesterday and my biggest issue with him is that he goes down for a nap at 10:30. Which IMO is way to early for a child that age to nap, he is pretty well getting up when the others are going down. Which leaves me no time for a break. I tried holding him off, but that DID NOT work!
The kids eat lunch at 11:00.
I can't put him down for an early nap and then one with the others because I have to pick my daughter up from school at 1:40. I just find that at the age of 2 it is a bit early for him to be having a nap. Even the 15 mon. old goes down with the others at 11:30.
BTW- I don't have all of those kids at the same time :-P They are all PT'ers ":)
