When is the last day of school in your area?

Are you ready?

How many children do you expect to have during the day?

What activities do you have planned? Can you share your ideas?

Any field trips?

May 27th and we are MORE than ready. Well, Randy needs to get a couple grades up before then, but oh yeah are we ready. :)

I won't have any extra kids this year (obviously! lol) but I had almost all school aged kids last summer. N went part time for the summer because his mom was between jobs and I had a 3yo. They were my only toddlers. I also had a 4yo, 6yo, 7yo, 9yo, 10yo and a 12yo. We went on two field trips a week. One big one and then once to a local pool. I think N only went three big trips with us and the rest we scheduled around him (he wouldn't have enjoyed them anyway--he was only 1 1/2 at the time). Our summer is 8 weeks long. I sat down the beginning of May and planned everything out, asking parents for their suggestions. I also invited parents to attend all the big trips with us and actually got a few takers! Some places we went to were the zoo, a local place called Itz (like a chucky cheese, but bigger and better), a ghost town museum (kids got to pan for gold and loved it!), Cold Stone Creamery (they do tours--it was an absolute favorite trip!), a local ceramic place (they got to paint figurines), bowling, and a few other places I can't think of right now. Average cost per trip was about $7. I took TONS of pictures and had a bunch of prints done at Costco for $.11 each and put them in a few little albums that I left down for the kids to look through and put a couple dozen in my wall displays. I will tell you, it was a LOT of work on my part and I was exhausted after each trip, but MAN those kids had an awesome summer!!! I was lucky enough to have my mom still here at the time so we had two cars with enough seats for 13 people each trip (7 or 8 daycare kiddos, me, my mom, my two boys plus Randy's then girlfriend went on a lot of the trips with us and the neighbor boy went once--he's Randy's age). Another local provider went on one of the trips with us. I tried to get her to go on more but she's not very adventurous! lol I'll attach the field trip questionaire I sent out to all the parents before summer started. Also, a field trip "rule" form. I got some great suggestions from them (like bowling, putt-putt, Itz, etc). Good luck if you decide to do some! They are work, but they're worth it! :)
