Work area tips?

I don't use filing cabinets. Instead, I have two black leather filing boxes lined with felt. They have a flip top lid and hold those manila file folders. I have no idea where they came from because BIL gave them to us, but I love them because they're small, stylish, and work really well.

How much paperwork do you need near you? Maybe you can just keep a box like this near your work area for the most recent information and not have to worry about the filing cabinet?
