Hi all, I work from home doing web design, most of which I do at night after the kids are in bed. They are ages 1 & 3. Anyone else work at night? Just wondering if I'm the only one in this crazy routine. -Redheadmom

Wish I could. At like 9 or so I crash! Every once in a while I can get down here and work in the evening but then dh says...going to bed? Then I feel bad if I stay down here. LOL We both like to go to bed together but that will be stopping soon I think. Next sememster's classes won't come so easily to me and I will have to put more hours into studying I think.

I have to make many phone calls at times so I can only do that in the day hours as well.

What time do you get to go to bed usually and what time do you wake up?

Not right now, but in a few months.

Right now the baby sleeps enough during the day, and DD is in kindergarten, that MOST of the time I can get my work done in teh day. In the last 8 weeks I have probably worked 2 nights.

But when DD was 2 on I had to work from when she went to bed until I was done, often not getting to bed until 2, and dragging my sorry but out of bed 5 hours later. I had just started then. I anticipate that by the time John is 1 he will not sleep enough during the day for me to get EVERYTHING done and I will have to work some at night. By teh time he is 4 I will be working exclusively at night again.

I used to more, but it really started cutting into my time with DH, and he asked that I not do it as much. It was a tough balance, but I had to find a way for us to have "our" time as well, so I ended up putting my daughter in part-time daycare so that I could get more done. I also have to be able to answer my phones during normal business hours.

Thanks for the responses! I used to be able to get more done during the day, but DS is 3, DD 1, and it seems that I can get nothing done except for making a few phone calls while they nap in the afternoon. I need to put in about 2 hours on the computer most nights to keep up with things. But it just kills me - I am so tired sometimes! It's best if I stay awake and do the work right after the kids fall asleep around 9pm, but sometimes at 9 I just pass out! Or I crawl in bed for some time with DH, and as soon as my head hits the pillow I am sound asleep. In that case, I get up around 3:30am and work then. I can't wait until DD is in pre-school and DS is in Kindergarten - then I can work during the day like a normal person!!! Thanks for listening everyone! This is a great board.
