Finally Friday

Your wish has been granted - it's Friday!

I did attend that Drug Awareness seminar for parents last night.  Two hours of eye-opening statistics.  According to their data, 42% of teens in North Carolina have tried marijuana.  I think that is crazy, but the surveys are anonymous so....  Do you think that is remotely possible?  They said if you give the teens one day, at least half of them know where to get pot that fast.  I wouldn't know where to buy it even if my life depended on it, but I'm from a different world.

Tonight I am going to Bunco with the girls and forgetting my worries for 3 straight hours.  I'm pretty sure something else is happening this weekend, but I can't think of it right now.  Hmm.  That's a mystery.

DH took Dave to a youth wrestling thing Thursday night, but Dave doesn't want to do it.  The place is 30 minutes away, it's twice a week, and Dave honestly isn't interested in doing that much hard-core exercise.  DH is taking it pretty hard.  I told hubs he needs to find his own wrestling coach and leave our 6-year-old alone until he is ready, but DH wasn't amused, ha.  I figure Dave saved me the $150, plus shoes, plus head gear, plus uniform, plus listening to him whine about not wanting to go each and every time so I'm happy he spoke up.  When DAVE wants to do it, we can sign him up then.

I think that's the other weekend thing - Dave's Sunday wrestling practice.  It'll be interesting to see if DH drops it.

What are you doing this weekend?

Thank goodness it's Friday!!

Those are staggering numbers.....I bet it's the same around here and I'm just as clueless as you on where to buy any in this town.  Yikes...not looking forward to those days!!

I got my vote in....it was a breeze..took all of 15 minutes.  Then I hit Fleet Farm for some xmas shopping.  It's best it you don't put a child into something they don't want to do...glad Dave spoke up too....because you know it would have been hell trying to get him there if he didn't want to do it.

Nothing planned for this weekend, except a dinner out Saturday night with DH's volunteer fireman friends.  Most likely some cleaning and getting more leaves picked up that have blown into our yard again!  I cannot believe it is November...yikes these years are flying by!

Have fun at Bunco and don't think about nothing but having fun with the ladies!!!!

Happy Weekend!

"getting more leaves picked up that have blown into our yard again!"

Girl, You are a saint for not having chopped that tree down by now.  I LOVE trees, but I wouldn't want to have to rake the neighbors' leaves.  They should come get 'em, lol!

Would you believe Leah canceled Bunco at the last minute because there wasn't going to be a big turnout?  The straw that broke the camel's back was a woman who has bronchitis and didn't want to get everyone sick; I applaud her for not coming!!  On the one hand I'm bummed because I bought a special bottle of Pinot Grigio for the occasion, but on the other hand I'm available now to drive Katie to her boyfriend's house and back tonight so they are happy.

Have fun at dinner, and have a great weekend!

Ok, first, I believe those stats. I know too many teenagers to think otherwise--truly. Second, hubs and I have a past with that... but I will say, I never tried it until I met hubby at the age of 20. Then, by 21, I was a mom and that wasn't my thing. Third, our lovely Libby (20) has done it (and will probably continue, much to my, I don't know? Disappointment? Chagrin? Dismay?) with her friends from home. I just found out about it maybe a year or two ago (by the time she was in college). Fourth, I could get my hands on it right now -- just found out a neighbor does it. He asked if I do it because I look like a hippie chick. ??? Maybe it's my Def Leppard t-shirt? Finally, while I will say that I don't condone it, I will say that the only, and I mean only reason I don't think it's ok is because it's illegal.Legalize it, and I'd much rather our teens do it than alcohol -- which is so much more readily available and causes so many more issues (IMO). But, that is just me. Your mileage may vary. Good luck with it and Matt. Kids just have their own ideas of what is ok and what is not. But seriously, I'm glad you didn't catch him doing shots or something...

I did explain to Lib that if you get caught and if you get busted for real, it could ruin your chances for financial aid for college. It's no an issue now, but it will be later. So. I figure her wallet is the best place to hit her, right? But she's 20 and still knows more than me. Undecided

Sorry about Bunco, but so glad that no one is getting germy. 'Tis the season and all that.

So this weekend is the usual. Clean house, iron shirts, maybe veg a bit?

I did get fat baby the Baby Einstein bouncy exerciser thing I wanted -- at a discount to boot. She is still a bit short (at 25.25") and still isn't sitting up so well, but she'll get it eventually. She seemed to like it a bit at first. I hope this isn't like the dang swing -- spent a good amount of $$ on that and she hates it. Good thing she's cute, because she's a money pit for sure!!

Disappointing news on the work front today. Just y'day boss of Big Client said we'd have leeway for reports due during t'giving week (a 3-day week for us) and then today I guess she changed her mind, and we'll have 2 quick-turns like we had on Monday. I could think of it as good news since originally we had 5, yes 5, reports for BC due that week, but, we were to get data the week prior. Now I get data on that Monday (all of this is becuase of the East coast power outages as our suppliers are there and without power which is pushing everything back by too much) and BC has to receive them by Wed. Which means I will have to get them finished on my end by what? By Monday... I'll be ready to drop data of course, but still. When I have such a quick turn-around, I get a bit rushy, and I tend to make a mistake or two. So, I'll have to rush and be Very Careful, as well. All I can say is that with all I've busted my butt before Zo came along and then returning to work so soon after she was born, and busting my butt now, I truly hope it means something by way of EOY bonus. I never expect it and am always grateful, but dang. I'm moving mountains here.

Anyhoo. It will all work out. With fat baby, with work, and etc. Smile But you know me. I just worry about things. I wish I didn't, but I am who I am. Dangit!  Yell

Hope everyone has a good weekend!!

Aw, easy does it on the worry Mama.  If Zo was ultra skinny and the doctor said "failure to thrive," then you would have my permission to stress out.  It's not like we need to invent the world's first Baby Elliptical or send her to Ultra Junior Fat Camp.  I saw her pic from two days ago and she is perfect.  She will run any rolls off in no time - please enjoy 'em while they last!  I miss my chubby bubbies so darn much it hurts.

And by the way, I have decided that ALL OF THEM are money pits!!!! Laughing

As for the pot, I'm so happy I have a contact now.  Hahaha.  I'm kidding.  I appreciate the input.  Everytime I have my kiddos figured out, they mature and the game changes.

I just don't want Matt to mess up his life before he begins it, KWIM?  I see him standing at a crossroads now and the path he takes may not be permanent, but we all know that doubling back takes time and may not work out.  When he grows up, he can do it or not - his decision.  I'll love him no matter what.  I just can't support him indefinitely if he decided the extent of his ambition is the next "score," especially since we have other kids to support who look up to him.  I have started the dialogue and (much to my surprise) he was very respectful and accepting.  Now if I can just get him into school like Libby or on some vocational path, I will sleep better.

Sounds like November is going to be a wild month work-wise for you.  Hang in there and relax when you can!!!

PS  This old "blast from the past/prepubescent" siggie is killing me with Katie now being 17 and Matthew at age 18.

No way is that little boy pictured below done with high school, driving his own car, and getting hit on by cougars at Carrabba's - Oh wait, he is.  ROTFL.

LOL -- I don't know that we'll be taking him up on his offer to share -- we just don't do that anymore. I prefer to stick to the legal stuff. Smile And really, who asks someone that question? I never did understand how people find other people, but I guess this is how...

Yeah, I'm not worried/worried about fat baby, but you know. And she does need to be doing other stuff than sitting in her bouncy seat, just from a developmental perspective. If she helps thin out a bit in the process, so much the better. Her fat little turkey legs barely fit in the leg openings of her Baby Einstein bouncy!! Lady at TRU asked if I wanted the warranty, and I'm like, dude. She'll be out of it in about 6 weeks with the weight requirement. LOL! I do make them big! And yes, big is much preferable over small (I think -- wouldn't know from experience, haha).

So here's our fun thing today. Just got the company to get me a battery backup for my PC. Lost power for a milisecond (literally) a couple months ago and lost the work I'd been doing -- PC reset just like that. So, finally got the backup, and then plugged it in to charge the battery. On Saturday. Today power flickers and yep, PC shut down because I hadn't had it plugged into the backup. And then the backup that it's on (just surge protector part, not the battery part) is screaming this loud sound and I cannot get the dang thing to shut off. Reset button my butt!! PC was trying to recover from the shutdown, and texting, hubby tells me to do a hard shut down. So do that. Plug things into my battery and now we're good, and my PC isn't the worse for wear. Thank goodness.

BUT, it gets better. Kids are doing laundry. Will puts the clothes in the dryer. I hear the dryer a bit later, but don't hear that familiar clang with the jeans and all the zippers and stuff, right? Yeah, the belt it broken, bare minimum (I hope it's not the motor, kill me). I can move the drum without any resistance. It's still heating, but that doesn't help me at all. Sears cannot get here until Wednesday (and I have an appt that morning I just remembered, dangit, so Libby will have to be in charge), and in the meantime I have 4 kids -- laundry is an everyday thing, right? Big kids are at the laundromat right now drying our clothes.

I didn't even wash hubby's shirts yet. So I'm doing that now, and will hang them in the bathroom to air dry since I've got to iron them anyway. Not a big tragedy there. Just a time suck...

Had I known of the money pit that was about to befall us (no warranty, don't you know), I wouldn't have hit Carter's this morning to get baby girl more clothes, or bought hubby's new Xbox game, or bought top sirloin steaks and shrimp for grilling tomorrow. I'd have gotten ramen and a deck of cards! LMBO!!

At least there's vodka and it's the weekend. /thank the saints for that...

(And I do miss my signature -- still cannot get it fixed due to it not recognizing that the email address is mine...)

LOL, I know, right? Us moms don't need any more reminders that our "babies" are getting older!
