I've been reading some of the story on the news, and just find it so disheartening. There is no way that this was self defense, and the 911 operator told him not to follow the person. He was looking for a fight, this is what happens when you allow people to own guns.

MURDER! Zimmerman is a liar and murderer. He needs to be prosecuted and thrown away for what he's done.

I find this sentence in the article disturbing:

The moves follow a day of protests calling for the arrest of George Zimmerman, 28, who claims he shot Martin in self-defense during a confrontation last month in a gated community in Sanford, Fla.

So what if there were no days of protests? Would he have just walked free, without a care in the world? Sick!

To me it seems quite obvious that he is guilty and had his own agenda. It sure would help if Trayvon's girlfriend would come forward and provide details of their conversation during the incident. Such a sad story. :(

It's a state law that you're allowed to defend yourself with deadly force. So yes, if the police believe that he was defending himself, then he would not be charged. (As I am guessing is the case.)

What I find fishy is that the girlfriend is not coming forward which could put a kink in the story and therefore it wouldn't be as easy as a defense by deadly force issue. So where is she?

It seems cut and dry. The 911 operator told him to go back to the car. He obviously didn't do that. This part of the law kills me though...

"Under the new law, there is no duty to retreat and it gives a Floridian the right "to stand his or her ground and meet force with force, including deadly force," if he feels threatened."

This obviously needs to be clarified.

What was this guy arrested for before? The photo in the article says "mug shot, 2005." I'm sure he wasn't arrested for being an upstanding citizen.

Honestly, I have tried to stay away from this story because stories about kids being killed are ALL OVER the news lately, and it's just depressing.

The blurb about how police are being pressured to turn their case over to the state's attorney before their investigation is complete really bothers me.

Where does this whole "Zimmerman is racist" thing come from?

Hi everyone,

Have you heard about the Million Hoodies March for Trayvon Martin taking place in NYC today?
