Hi everyone. My name is Pam and I had my first baby, Kaylie, on August 9, 2003. I am currently on maternity leave and scheduled to go back November 12th. I hate my job so much and I am so depressed about going back, I find myself counting the days and getting soo depressed. I go to school part-time but won't be graduating until May 2006 and I don't want to be stuck in my crappy job until then. I was wondering if anyone could help me get started with working at home. There are so many scams out there and I don't know where to start or what to do ! Please help, thank you

Hugs, Pam

Hi Pam!

Congrats on your new baby! My baby was born Aug. 29. Are you getting any sleep yet?

Most of us either have our own business or work in Direct Sales. One way to tell a scam, is if they ask you to pay for information and make incredible claims. Earn $1000 your first week!

I picked my business, Discovery Toys, because I was in love with the products. I then looked into the business and decided to give it a try. Over 2 years later, I know I found something that works for me. But everyone is different, and you need to find something you are passionate about. If you get or have access to Parents Magazine, I'm featured in October for working part-time, or check it out online http://www.parents.com/articles/family_time/5413.jsp . There are some other options in there as well you should check out.

What are your interests?

I get paid to play! Ask me how you can make a differnce in children's lives!

Pam,

Most of us here remembering feeling just like you do. You have come to the right place! The usually recommendation is to take a look through the roll-call section of this board to see what everyone here does. That will give you a few ideas and some things to think about. The key thing with working from home is doing something you feel passionate about; something you enjoy. Some sew; some write; some sell. I chose to sell Discovery Toys products because I love the opportunity, love the toys, and they are a great benefit to my two young children.

We are here to answer any questions you have and we will help keep you away from the scams. We have all been there!

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter!

Come back soon!

Hi Pam! Congratulations on your baby! I wish that I could give you a "quick fix" and tell you about a job that will immediately pay your bills and cover the income from your "other" job. Unfortunately, companies that promise that are generally too good to be true! Starting your own business takes passion and patience! But the rewards never stop, my children are a bit older, but I love being there every morning to send them off to school, and hugging them every afternoon when they come home.

Find something you love! For me it was the amazing pottery and baskets I'd been using for years. What are you passionate about? Like to decorate? What about HENN, At Home America, or Southern Living at Home? Like to cook? Pampered Chef, or HENN (I'm biased, I know!) How about crafting? There are companies like Creative Memories or Stampin' Up. And you've already heard from the Discovery Toys ladies! Can you sew, cook, organize, or have any other talents that you can market? Really, the possibilities are endless...... Best of luck, and keep us informed!

Hi Pam!!

Congrats and good luck with your new daughter!! There is no other joy in life than your own children!

As far as becoming a WAHM, there are so many options.....I personally have chosen two. I like some other women on this board have chosen Discovery Toys, the reason I chose this was the product the toys are great and educational, and my children...3 and 1 1/2...love them!! The other one that I chose was Tupperware. Tupperware speaks for itself, you don't have to do much to sell it, it kind of sells itself!!

With both I have not only provided some income for my family but I have met so many interesting people. I love being able to get out of the house for a little while and help others, whether it just be making them smile, bring some educational toys to their childrens lives, or organizing their kitchens!!

But anyway there is so much out there......Avon, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Candles, Scrapbooking, Tupperware, Toys, Home Decorations......the list goes on.

Good luck with your new baby and your quest to become a WAHM!!

Hi there...

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter! :o)

I used to sell Avon for a while and Tupperware too, but it wasn't working with me. Needed more flexibilty to work in my schedule at home with family... So, I gave that up and have took to the different websites that are legit to help give me some spending money.(not any out there are a get rich quick thing..lol!)

And, most of all I can work my own hours and be there for my family.

So far they have been paying well for me.

It gives me that extra that is needed toward holiday time too..

I'll share with you some addresses below...

Best wishes in all that you find to do online...

Hugs,

Paula
