I thought I'd take a minute to reintroduce myself here at the board since I've recently been appointed to follow in Cathy's shoes as the board CL.

My name is Tammie and I'm a homeschooling, WAHM mom to 4 children aged 13 down to 2. We live in Maryland, where I've been a SAHM since 1999 and a WAHM since 2001. I've been an Independent Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay since June 2001 and, although my business is currently very part-time, I'm very much interested in building my customer base and team over the next couple of years with the ultimate goal of becoming an Independent Sales Director. In addition to my Mary Kay business, I also am a freelance webdesigner with a small business that I share with a partner who specializes in back-end programming (specifically PHP, Cold Fusion and MySQL).

I've been a Community Leader with iVillage/ParentsPlace/Pregnancy & Parenting since February of 2003 when I was first appointed as

Hi Tammie,
Congratulations and the best of luck as cl.

I'm Alice. I taught HS math for 20 years before my 3 kids came along; I'm home for 3 more years before the youngest is in full day Kindergarten. I do lots and lots of tutoring. And I recently started freelance writing-- mostly math stuff for software companies. But it's new and different, and I'm enjoying it. I'm also President of the Parent's Board at my youngest's Nursery School, and I do volunteer work greeting infant Korean adoptees at JFK and bringing them out to their new families. Life is never dull!

I'm good at problem solving (20 years of teaching math!!) and I'm quick to offer my take on a problem. I hope I don't come off as a know-it-all. But I figure that people are more than welcome to ignore my advice; even if they don't take it, it may spur an idea for them.

Well, that's pretty much it on me.

Alice, thanks for the congratulations! You just post away, you always seem to have such great advice and you're so positive and upbeat! I can tell that you've done your homework on this WAHM thing, too! ;)

Hmmm, former math teacher and current freelance writing in the math field, eh? Being a homeschooling mom, I may need to pick your brain a bit!
