hi! i've been reading this board a bit here and there, so i thought i'd introduce myself quickly. i'm a 28 yr. old single mom to a girl in first grade. I currently work 20 hours a week out of the home in a salon doing nails. I also work from home as an artist. I'm thinking about dropping the part time job in the next year, but i'm taking a cautious approach. on one hand it's hard to get done everything i need to do with my art business while working part time. on the other hand i am not sure i'm ready to give up that income yet. plus the free haircuts/color and the employee discount (I work for the JC Penney's salon, so I get a really good employee discount). lol

I am also currently working on writing my first zine. It's called "starving artist" and it's aimed towards people.. well, like myself. I plan to fill it with lots of practical advice and comic relief for people working in creative fields and dealing with the all-too-common tight and unstable budget. I'm also thinking about a contributor based zine for people recovering from mental illness, something else I have a lot of real world experience with. but i have to pace myself and get the other zine off the ground first. I have a major tendancy to bite off more than I can chew. lol

Well, that's it in a nutshell. :)

Welcome to the WAHM board.

What kind of art do you do.

Is it something that you could market on cafe press?

I have a friend who picks and chooses some of her work and puts it out there and regularaly sends out e-mails promoting her work and her new products.

(she also does gallerys and custom work but the cafe press sutff is just a little extra on the side kind of $$)

Hi Ellie, I do have a cafepress shop and I mostly sell magnets on there. I do acrylic paintings, sort of bright and contemporary.
