Hi all,

Just wanted to introduce myself. Though I work full-time outside of the home, I am trying to find a way to become a WAHM. I have three kids: my 13 year-old daughter and then on the weekends we are joined by my husband’s 9 year-old son and 15 year-old daughter.
I am signed up with a direct sales company named Natures Paws and really like the products. My biggest problem with direct sales is since I work full-time, I dont have a lot of time to devote to it and have ended up selling mainly to my co-workers and relatives. In addition to Natures Paws, I have also started trying to sell things on EBAY and at flea markets. I know in time I will find my niche...

Hi and welcome! Good luck with your new ventures and trying to find your niche. Finding mine is a constant work-in-progress. Some day I'll weed through the jungle of it all and settle down with one idea. (Maybe.)

Hi Sandy,

Welcome to the board! I'm also in direct sales with Mary Kay... and I'm a mom to 4 (as you can see from my siggy).

I hadn't heard of Nature's Paws before... was just pondering whether you could maybe talk to some local vets in your area, or maybe groomers, to see about setting up some kind of advertising in their waiting areas.

Hi,

I have posted some fliers at a few of the vet offices, but only the ones that have bulletin boards. I live in a small-ish town and we only have a handful of vet offices and a couple of those were out because they offer their customers their own pet vitamins and treats. For the couple of offices that didn't have a problem with my leaving a flier, I was thinking that perhaps I should leave some soap samples... Natures Paws offers 100% natural soap bars.
Thanks for the suggestion, I can use all of the suggestions I can get!

Hi, and welcome to the board!! I personally think you have a WEALTH of leads at your feet by starting your business while you are still working outside the home. You probably have TONS of co-workers who have pets, and would love your products (and you mentioned some are already your customers). Have you done any "Home parties" catering to pets? Maybe you could have a "Doggie Party", where everyone brings their dogs and you can sample the products to them? Also, do what I do - carry a catalog bag everywhere you go (a bag with a clear pocket on the front that holds your catalog), so people can see your catalog and ask you about it in the grocery store, mall, wherever. You can buy the catalog bags cheap on eBay. It's a great conversation starter and is also a great way to carry catalogs and samples with you at all times - mobile advertising!! Whenever I'm at the park, I always carry it with me, and at least 2-3 moms come up and ask me for a catalog (I'm a Pampered Chef consultant). I hope those ideas help - good luck with your business - you can make it into anything you want!! :)
