I am having such a hard time finding child care for my kids during the summer. Everytime I think I've found a great day camp, I look at the hours and it's 9-3. Uggghhh! The very earliest I can get off work is 4 and even then my boss wouldn't be thrilled. What do other working moms do? Or do you have a more flexible work schedule than the usual 9-5 ?

Most camps here end at 4. Some do offer a late pick up. Because DS is in special ed at school they want him at the school run camp. Yah its really summer school don't sugar coat but our biggest objection to them is the hours. He gets scholarships to entice us but hours are 8-4 with no extended pick up. Sorry DH and I work until 5 just not happening. The camp we do go to ends at 4 but does have a late pick up until 5:30 but because we needed early drop off too my parents offered to help. That camp is down the street from them vs the school that is in a different city. We are doing 1 week at the school camp and not sure how I will figure out drop off or pick up since its cutting at close for an 8am drop off and getting to work but hoping between in laws and parents no one will mind running to anothr city for 1 week.

Its fustrating though. When we first did the summer camp it was hard finding something that meet our needs. I already work a flex schedule allowing me to come in at 9 not 8:30 so I couldn't really flex anymore plus I work 30 min from home and rely on public transit and that makes it harder. We are lucky we have family that can help because while I can find camps with late pick ups that usually means more money and we are streched the limit as it is.

Yes, most summer camps do end at either 3 or 4, but usually a lot of them will offer an extended drop off/pick up time for working parents.  Do you have any YMCA's around you?  I know they do offer extended hours and usually have a pretty good selection of programs.  Hugs, summer isn't easy for working parents...

I think our town run summer camp ended at 4:00 or 4:30.  Luckily I didn't have to pick up the kids (it was only one at a time due to age difference) every day--my exH picked them up 2 days a week but I still had to leave work early sometimes.  whoever said summer is a pain for working parents was right.

I ditto the YMCA idea. Those places are fantastic!!! Our local YMCA saved our summer many of times when my kids were smaller.
