...the baby fever! I've been lurking on and off for months but as DH and I have agreed to start TTC in October 2009, I finally registered to post. Poor DH can't be expected to absorb ALL my madness all by his lonesome, can he? :)
DH: Eddy, 29, works for a large multination corporation to remain nameless, currently more than a year through a Brussels, Belgium rotation.
Me: Margot, 28, happily unemployed for the time being and enjoying life as an expat housewife in Brussels. (Lots of opportunities for travel and great food, our two main hobbies!)
We've been married 4 years but together since college, and are just about ready to expand our little circle of love to include a tiny munchkin.
Why we're waiting: Well, actually DH says we can start whenever I'm ready. I realize I am very fortunate in that I don't have to convince him! But because we live overseas with no close friends or family nearby, it's really important to me that my mom and sister be able to come stay with us around the end of the pregnancy/first months of baby's life. Since they're both teachers, that means I NEED a summer baby = try to conceive this fall. We're planning a Florida vacation around a friend's wedding in October, so that's our target D-Day, so speak, all depending on my cycle of course.
So far: DH and I just went for a very thorough physical at the same hospital where I hope to deliver. It's very close to our home and has an excellent reputation, so I wanted to check it out. The doctor was lovely and said I'm in good shape and everything looks good to go, which was nice to hear. I've been having these totally irrational fears, before we even start TTC, that something is wrong and we'll have problems. Stupid, I know. But I'm kind of a worrywart by nature. Just hope all the blood tests he's running come back fine.
The doc we saw is also a personal friend of, and so referred me to, the OB/GYN who delivered Princess Astrid's daughters. I can't wait for that appointment next week. :) Only problem is the OB/GYN doesn't speak English. Can I handle gynecology/pregnancy/labor and delivery 100% in French for the sake of getting the “royal treatment”? Hmm. Stay tuned.
I have four pills left in my current BCP pack, and then it's finito! I'll start charting and hope for an easy return to a regular cycle.
Thanks for reading! I am so looking forward to having y'all around to share the ups and downs and mild obsessiveness.
