Nathan is now 8 1/2 months old. And I'm getting a little concerned. I'm hoping it's paranoia (not out of the question) or maybe just that he's a boy?? sorry, ... that sounds dumb. Anyway, he is too aware/attentive/interactive for me to REALLY think ASD, but I swear the kid stims. He will flick things to watch them move - he holds his pacifier by the nipple and will flick the handle back and forth over and over. He also does it with other things (anything with a handle or anything that dangles). It's very intentional, not baby-batting-at-hanging-stuff. He also has wicked texture issues with food - a too thick puree will make him choke and then vomit. He can't eat baby cereal, and I have to thin half of the jarred stage 2 purees I buy. But he eats crunchy things like cheerios and crackers just fine.
Other than that he's doing OK - his motor skills are a little behind, but not really delayed. He has an appointment with an optometrist in 2 weeks b/c we think he might have strabismus (crossed eyes - they're not completely crossed, but they don't seem to line up quite right - like me, unfortunately). Something just feels "off" but at this point I don't think it's enough that anyone's going to want to do anything about it.
Help! Any advice?
