My 9 year old was doing so wonderfully at school, until one day he pushed a girl at recess who he thought had pushed someone else over, but they were just playing. He went to the principal for recess etc. then back to class where he ended up throwing his writing into the garbage just being upset. I can't believe how sad that made me... The teacher called me and told me how he's been doing well in her class but has a harder time when he's away from class, like recess, lunch, specialists. She has a nephew with similar problems, though not ASD. She has assigned him a place he can go in the class if he needs to calm down, she works things out with the other children when disagreements arise, and is listening to my suggestions.
She said she's starting to read Look Me in the Eye by John Elder Robison. I have not read this one, what do you think of it?
