We are planning a road trip from Ontario to Florida in January - and I am dreading it.
The very first real vacation I took, we went to Florida/Disney World by car, I was with my oldest son and his family, including my 18m old grandson. My son did all the driving, we rented a van and planned to camp.
After one night of camping, I told them I was too old for this - take me to a motel! I got heat exhaustion at the Magic Kingdom and was basically a babysitter while everyone else had fun. I hated the whole trip, I don't travel well.
The next time was with my (then fiance) husband and youngest son, he did most of the driving because I was still a new driver at that time. We stayed in motels, but he insisted on driving till he was ready to drop, then drive around a strange town looking for a vacancy. Then we stayed with his parents in Florida and never went anywhere or did anything fun.
So I have put my foot down for this trip, insisting on reasonable daily driving limits, reserved rooms along the way, and stops for fun stuff to see and do and to meet some online friends! We will also have our two dogs along the trip and my youngest son, who is now an adult.
So we are trying to plan, hoping not to spend a fortune - and I would really like to enjoy a vacation for once! :smileyvery-happy:
