Starting Solids

Okay Ladies, I am starting to have a mild panic attack about solids...AACK, I can't even believe that my little one is even almost ready for Solids. We gave her just a small taste of a banana on Sunday and she loved it!! She almost sucked the thing right out of my hand, so I think she will be ready when we want to start here at 5 1/2 or 6 months...that being said because she is getting close I am getting nervous I am not going to do things right.

We are planning on doing the Baby-led Weaning and skipping the purees'. if we were doing the purees and stuff I think I would feel more comfortable. I have read the BLW book that Ella and others have recommended. but I think I am just wondering how to get started.

I know they say to start with what you are eating, so I was thinking we could do sweet potatoes, cucumber and maybe some banana for her first meal. Then I was wondering is that too much? I guess I just am questioning what to start off with, what to do and how to react to her, I know I have some serious reading to do in the next few weeks, just wanted to get anyone's experience with solids to help me out. Even if you haven't done BLW, I am curious when you did start your child on full solids (non-puree's) how you went about it.

TIA!
