QOTW: Research on gifted reading behavior...

Hope all you ladies are doing well. I'm a 'bit' busy at the moment with a master's thesis in educational sciences/psychology. I'm looking at the influence of reader's goals and motivation on reading strategies, and want to compare a group of 'regular' smart people with gifted people, putting them in conditions of reading for 'fun' 'tests' or 'presentations'. They read 5 expository texts on interesting topics per condition, and I measure their eye movement with an eye tracker. I look for linear readers (fast and slow), random readers, or strategic readers (scanning and searching for the central information).

Now there's a lot written about the learning strategies of gifted children, and their reading behavior. I'm curious to see what I can truly see back in the experiments. Some expect all gifted to be strategic readers, but I have a hard time believing that. I think motivation has a big influence on what reading strategy a gifted child choses (scanning if not motivated right away, linear reading when a topic is new and exiting). What do you think?
