I've been reading every post from my phone but the last two weeks has been such a whirlwind that I haven't had much time to post.
We had a WONDERFUL time in Turkey and Selin did really well on the plane both ways. She travels really well I guess! She loved all the extra attention from relatives and did fairly well adjusting to a new country. She was jet lagged for two nights (so far it's been the same issue coming home) but other than that, she napped and slept at night like normal. Most of the things I was worried about never happened! We took a ton of pictures but I still haven't had a chance to upload them, or finish unpacking for that matter! (more on that below)
Thankfully, throughout our trip, Selin remained healthy but I, of course, had to be the one to have some "issues". I ended up having to see an ENT doc a few days into our trip because my right ear was bothering me and my balance was off. They determined it was just due to the long flight (10 hours) and my prescription was to drink lots of water and chew gum for a few days. Then a few days before we were to return home, I got a stye (sp?) in my right eye (WTH is it with the right side of my body?!?) and of course it happened on a Sunday when no clinics are open. Thankfully, the pharmacies there sell some meds OTC so we found one that was open (not all pharmacies are open on Sundays, ugh!) and they gave me an ointment and some drops. My eye is almost 100% back to normal now.
And if all that wasn't enough, AF decided to return after almost two years the morning we were flying back home. I had mixed emotions: happy that she finally showed and that we are one step closer to TTC (once we get insurance straightened out of course), but also kind of aggravated that she had to show up on a day when we were waking up at 5am to take an 11 hour flight home and I already had to deal with my swollen eye. It has been 4 days and I still have cramps. I forgot that I also have loose stools when I have AF - fun! But, in the end I am really pleased that I went a little over 2 years with no AF so I guess I really can't complain.
On the work front, still no leads on teaching positions but I am now working FT for the rest of the month for a company as an IT contractor, supporting the application I actually used to work with at my old FT job. It all came about rather quickly - a friend of mine from my last job called me before we left for Turkey to see if I would be interested and when I talked to the boss, it sounded like it wasn't going to work out due to us leaving for our trip and going on another trip at the end of the month and their end of June deadline. So I went to Turkey thinking oh well, it didn't work out, and the morning after we got back, there was an email from the boss asking me if I was back and if I was available! We chatted yesterday and he asked me to come in to the office today to get acquainted with the project. Come to find out he needs me FT until the end of June and needs me to start tomorrow! I was totally not expecting that. So Selin will be going back to her old sitter for a few weeks, which I have mixed emotions about - not the sitter herself but just that Selin and I have been home together since the end of April and now she's going back to a sitter FT again. BUT - they are letting me work from home and the sitter is just a few minutes away so it's not that bad. I didn't like being in the office today anyway. :-)
As for my other contract job, I talked to my boss the day we left for Turkey (he was having a meeting with the VP to discuss the possible FT position for me) and he said that the meeting went very well and that we would talk more when I got back. Well of course I couldn't wait that long so I emailed him as soon as I had access in Turkey and he said that he didn't really have any solid information for me other than that my name had been submitted as the person most likely to fill the position. He is on vacation until the 15th so I have to wait until then to learn more.
So things have totally been throwing me for a loop lately, esp. on the job front, but I'm just trying to go with the flow and hope eventually, I will be a teacher! Oh and the day we left for Turkey, I received my teaching certificate in the mail from the state so I am a real certified teacher now! All I need is a classroom, lol.
