So today, like most of my MFM appointment days, started out with me throwing up. I was just wishing to myself Rob didn't have to go back to work after the appointment when in walks Rob, telling me they told him to take the rest of the day off rather then make the half hour drive to only work a few hours.
We got into the appointment 10 minutes late and I was so worried they were going to tell me they had to reschedule and ruin my whole birthday, but nope, they were running really late themselves! The woman before me was having contractions while they were monitoring her so they kept her longer to see if she was in labor.
We finally got back in and they did a cervical check. My first appointment with the MFM was around 14 weeks and they measured mine at 3.10 cms, just wanting anything above 3. Today it was 3.5 (it's normal to fluctuate I should add) so still above 3 which they said was great.
Baby A, Blake, was definitely still a boy and we got a gender shot this time lol. His heart rate was 139 bpm and he now weighs 13 oz, almost doubled his weight in a month!
Baby B, Elaine, is still definitely a little girl. Her heart rate was 147 bpm and she now weighs 12 oz, and DID double her weight since last time!
The MFM then came in and told me that everything looks really well, so well in fact that he says if the hearts check out fine next ultrasound, and my OB feel comfortable, he will release me completely to her care. Not sure how I feel about that yet. Happy that means I will be less high risk, but not sure what that means for the rest of my pregnancy. I'd hate to give up all the nice long ultrasounds! ;) He also told me they'll try to get me better pictures next time but my kids aren't making it easy. I bet not!
He says the babies are measuring exactly where they are supposed to be with only an 8% difference in weight which is perfect (especially since I suspect the second temp rise I had was the second ovulation which makes the babies 2 days apart in age), and all the organs look good. In fact Blake's kidneys are doing wonderfully and he has just tons and tons of amniotic fluid around him. Always good to hear they have room!
My next appointment is on the 21st, and if things still look really good, and my OB feels confident enough to take on the twins, I will be released to her and that will be my last appointment with the MFM. I will be about 24 1/2 weeks along at that point, viability!
Here is an ultrasound picture!
And here is my 21 week belly!
