I went in to be induced 12-21 at 40weeks and 3days. I was supposed to get set up on IV (pitocin and antibiotics for GSB+) at 7:30am but with an influx of births overnight, I got pushed back to 10:30am.
Got my IV in and started pit about 11am. My doctor came in and broke my water at 11:30 am. (I came in at 3.5cm) My contractions started to pick up pretty intense at this point. Not the most regular though. I decided to go ahead and get my epidural at about 12:30. It was aweeeeeeesome. I felt it more on my left side at first. They had me lay down to distribute the medication evenly in my body about 10 min after I got the epi. As soon as I laid down I got nauseated and light headed. She checked my BP and it was 65/40. She called for some medication to raise my BP as soon as the other nurse came in the room the babys HB went to 20. Then a ton of nurses were in there. They were running around trying to find his heart rate and then deal with me at the same time.
I started to freak out, I thought he was dying. I thought I was dying. It was total chaos. No one would tell me what was going on. She put an internal monitor on his head and gave me oxygen. After a few seconds his heartrate went back up to normal and my blood pressure started to recover. It was almost an emergency C-section. SCARYYY stuff. Whew.
After that episode, She checked me and I was at 5cm. That was about 1pm? Its kinda fuzzy the time. So, we basically just hung out while I progressed. Around 3pm I was at 8cm and stalled there til about 4:45. I moved to my left side and he went down into the canal FAST. I called the nurse saying i needed to push. She was in there in 30 seconds, checked me and he was crowning. Dr came in and I pushed him out in 3 contractions! no tearing, no stitches.
