What it is?
"What is Bacterial Endocarditis?
Bacterial endocarditis is an infection of either:
• heart’s inner lining (endocardium) or
• heart valves
Bacterial endocarditis is a serious — and
sometimes fatal — illness. Two things cause
it to occur: bacteria and a weakened heart.
Men, women and children and people of
all racial and ethnic groups can get it. In the
United States, there are about 29,000 cases
of bacterial endocarditis a year."
