They said babies will do this when they have an infection OR have an impending infection. They tested her urine, blood, did x-rays of her chest and did a spinal tap. Then admitted us for 48 hours to wait for all the results to come back and to start aggressively treating her with antis. So they get us up to our room and the nurse checks the computer to see if any of her labs have come in and sure enough they are. She said everything looked good except there is something going on in her spinal fluid and then wouldn't say anything else other than the Dr will talk to you about it in the morning.
Dr comes in this morning and instantly is saying "It's looking like meningitis from the lab results"... I didn't like him much, I had lots of questions I needed answered and he just kept standing in the door way trying to leave as I'm asking them, like I was stalling him or something and then said "We'll talk later on..." ummm ok. The nurse comes in and said if there was blood in the fluid collected than it will tamper the lab results. There was DEFINITELY blood in the fluid, I seen it so that gives me hope.
Now all day I have had another Dr (which I LOVE her, she is very sweet and makes sure if I have any questions before she leaves that she answers them for me) in and out of our room that is saying there is definitely blood in the fluid they just don't know if its blood in her actual spinal fluid or the blood got in there from her being poked and that as she looks now, she is not looking sick at all. Showing no signs what so ever, but we wont know for sure until the cultures come in which will be in the middle of the night on wed/thurs early morn. The last time she was in here (she keeps coming in with LOADS of questions about the events leading up to, our home, us, family history... everything) she said that they think they have all the answers they needed from me and that the team of Drs were going to sit and discuss Addie and then they would be back in to talk to me about what they think is going on. I'm waiting (not so patiently), hoping they come in with some good news. This has been a NIGHTMARE and watching my baby go through all this breaks my heart into a million pieces. :'( I'm just ready to take her home, but obviously I want to make sure she is healthy first. That is number 1 top priority. Please pray for our precious baby girl.
