I was raised by a Southern Baptist father and an Episcopalian mother. While my father was extremely strict in his religion (Think the worse of the stereotypes about S. Baptist!) and my mother was very open. I do not affiliate with any denomination and even when I don't agree with certain aspects of various religions, I try to keep an open mind. I am a mother of 2 now and I want to provide the resources for my children to make an educated decision about their individual religious beliefs. My (almost) 8 year old has proclaimed that he is Catholic and he has stuck to this claim for well over a year now despite never setting foot in a Catholic church. I have to admit that I know very little about Catholicism! I want to encourage his decision even if it is not my forte. I believe that one of the most important aspects about religion is just having that faith! Are there any good books for a child his age that could better educate him about the religion? What books would be good for me to read in order to better understand and guide him? This has been weighing on my mind for a while now.
