My grandson is almost 5 and has recently started pooping in his pants. He has been toilet trained since 3 1/2. He is pooping at home, at school & at daycare then lying about it. He doesn't like to poop as he says it hurts. Dr says there is nothing wrong, he is given lots of bran & if they haven't been successful in getting him to poop after 3 days, Dr has given meds to help. If he could go everyday, it would likely eliminate the pain but he holds it & holds it until he can't hold it any longer. He sits on the toilet for 20 mins every night after his shower, reading stories & playing his games but most of the time nothing happens.They have hidden prunes in his peanut butter, they have used Metamucil mixed in his peanut butter.

Has anyone run into this problem? I think his parents are doing all the right things but nothing is working & he is getting embarassed at school.
