A 48-year-old Chicago public school teacher is suing his school system. The 21-year-veteran, Lincoln Brown, was using the n-word as he taught a class about racism related to the Mark Twain classic “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.” The principal walked in the class as Brown was using the word. After that, Brown was suspended for five days. The teacher is fighting back, filing a federal lawsuit against the district and claiming that his civil rights have been violated. What do you think of the teacher’s situation and why?
