Holy Cow! Megan was on fire this past weekend at Regionals! Friday night she swam 200 back and came in 1st. In the process, she swam a personal best and made both the state and Zone (multi-state) cuts. Saturday she swam two personal bests. Sunday she placed first in 100 back and made the state and Zone cuts. I think the only person not surprised was her coach! So, she gets to swim three events and a relay at state starting Thursday and then the following weekend she gets to swim two (maybe three if she makes the cut for 50 back at state) events at Zones where she'll be competing with people from several states. I know this isn't much compared to what many other swimmers do but it's far and away the best she's ever done and she set goals for herself, worked hard, asked her coach for additional opportunities, and put it all together over three days. Total accomplishment: over 3 consecutive days... 5 events, 2 regional champ finishes, 2 state cuts, and 2 zone cuts. I still don't quite believe it. It's now going to be a very busy few weeks. Additional practices, additional meets, and oh yeah, we didn't really think she had a shot at zones so we let my parents sign her up for another riding camp which is the same week as Zones. Fortunately, the two aren't far apart so we can work something out but it won't be easy. Hope you don't mind my bragging. If you guys gt sick of this stuff, tell me to knock it off and I will. I won't be upset. It's just nice to be able to share good news and feel proud sometimes.
