thank you for all the support, prayers and good vibes. We finally made it home! Thanks to Krista for keeping everyone updated.
John was born July 13th, 9:19AM 5 lbs 2ozs 18 inches long. Things weren't what they expected when they opened me up--we were extremely lucky they didn't wait any longer. I was on the table for over 2 and a half hours and my spinal quit early on-they kept dosing me with things in my IV so I don't remember him being born at all, but my husband did get to hold him for a few minutes before they took him off to the NICU. They said he was in the less than one percent that has the extensive problems breathing that he did at 37 weeks.
My husband said I woke up screaming that he was gone but I don't remember that. He was showing me pictures over and over again and a video he took as they came in reading to transport him to the larger hospital that can do vent care. They transported me so I could be at the same hospital, thankfully. I couldn't have been without him.
In two weeks he went from vent, to CPAP, to partical CPAP, to briefly nasal air, to room air on his own. From IV feedings to feeding tube to nursing successfully on his own. He had to pass a carseat test and holding his own temperature before we could go home. I had a few setbacks that delayed us leaving, but finally we are home.!!!
It's amazing to hold him and so far I rarely put him down. I have at least one surgery to repair things ahead of me, but he was worth it all and then some. I am so very very blessed.
There is no doubt that he has to be my last baby, but I couldn't ask for better. Thank you so much for the prayers and help. I said it in one of my other posts, but it's true. It may take a Village to raise a child, but it took an Ivillage to get this one born!!!
Hope the pictures come over OK.
Thanks again for the help with updates Krista, you're a sweetheart~!
