I just can't see myself letting a child of mine get plastic surgery, but hard to deny a bullied child a chance for a somewhat normal life. But how normal can they be if they are still carrying around the emotional stigma of years of being bullied about their appearance?
ETA: Probably help if I didn't hit accidentally hit post too soon. I saw this girl on CNN that received plastic surgery through a non-profit. I do have to admit she does look much prettier afterwards, although I thought she was pretty beforehand. Kids are self absorbed enough these days that it's worrisome that they will get hung up on looks too much. I was also a bit put off by the surgeon coming up with more areas to fix instead of just her ears. I'd like to see an update on her a year from now to see if she's still being bullied, my guess would be that she still is. Kids won't stop being mean, they'll still have their favorite targets.
