Leah’s Birth Story
On Wed the 8th I had an OB appt. I was not feeling too well and having contractions about every 10-12 min. Went in to see the OB and was only dilated 2cm and 75% effaced. I was sent over to Labor and Delivery for monitoring. By this time I was ready to have this baby and be done. Got to Labor and Delivery to only be sent home to wait out my scheduled C-Section on the 15th or until I was contracting more often. Let’s say I was not too happy! Went home and decided I was going to try and move things along. I went for a mile walk but the contractions would not pick up steam. On the 9th I was still having contractions but not as often. I tell you its very frustrating wanting the baby to come and nothing is happening. I went for another mile walk that evening hoping that would do the trick. Nothing!!! Contractions have pretty much tapered off. Friday morning I got up and took my daughter to get her cheerleading pictures done and just felt huge. A lady asked me if I was having twins. I bit my tongue because I could have had some choice words. I went home after the pictures were down and proceeded to organize my linen closet. I was convinced this baby was not going to come before my scheduled c-section. Talked to my husband around 1pm and told him not to expect anything that this baby was holding out. I was no longer having contractions. I ate some lunch and decided I would lie down for a little bit before I started to clean some more. Not more than 10 minutes of me laying down I heard a loud pop and about 30 seconds later heard a second with the hard kick from the baby. I sat up and gush. My water broke about 3:15pm. The adrenalin kicked in and the reality I was going to meet my miracle today. They say when your water breaks it usually is a slow leak, mine was a full on river that kept going and going.
Got to Labor and Delivery about half hour after my water broke and had my c-section about 1 ½ hours later. They had difficulty inserting the spinal which was not fun. Took them 2 tries before they got it leaving a nice bruise on my back. It is a weird feeling lying on the table as you are being cut open. I kept thinking I was going to feel pain any minute. When Leah was born she had a little trouble breathing but within a few minutes she was breathing quite well. I was prepared for her to go to the NICU since I am diabetic and it can cause some breathing and blood sugar issues with infants. I am happy to note she was prefect and able to stay with me the whole time. I could not have asked for a better miracle then my daughter. After 10 years of trying and on the verge of throwing in the towel my miracle is here. I could not ask for a better 10 year anniversary present from my hubby. I pray every day that those who are still on this board and trying that your miracle happens soon. It is a true blessing and the love I have for my daughter is so much deeper than if I would have not walked this path.
