Well, they're not teens anymore, but "old" 21 year olds, but I kind of feel like this board is "home." So here goes.....

I think I told you folks that SIL Tim got a job in his field a couple of weeks ago, but at a lower apprenticeship wage rather than the starting salary that Tim was hoping for.  Well, yesterday when he came home from his second week of work he was flying high!! The boss is "happy with what he's seeing" and offerred him $1 an hour increase in pay with the promise of another $1 an hour around the first of the year if the owner continues to be happy with his work and progress in his skills. Tim is floating these days!

Nicki has gone from relief (no guaranteed hours but actually getting 3 shifts a week) to two guaranteed shifts a week plus whatever she's able to pick up at the nursing home. It sounds as though the Director of Nursing is working on coaching her along in her nursing skills and is helping her work on her confidence.  She's kind of liking working part time because it gives her more time to spend with Wyatt who is now 13 months old, not only walking but RUNNING and starting to talk too.

The kids have talked to us about possibly staying here until the spring, while they save money as much as possible before they move out.  Their goal is to buy a small starter home in the spring and given the number of foreclosures in the area, if they buy something with the intention of it being a "starter" they just might be able to do that.  A lot of young couples in our community start out buying older, small 2 or 3 bedroom homes that they stay in for 5-7 years, then move up to something a bit bigger when they can afford it. In fact, we have an elderly neighbor who plans to put her house that is just that on the market next spring.... would be perfect if it worked out.  If not, oh well, they will find something....
