Hello! I'm new here, but I have consulted many helpful posts on this site before.
I am still breastfeeding (only with solids, no formula or pacifiers) my nearly 13-month-old baby boy. I am pumping about 3 times a day when at work part-time, and the others days, he feeds about 4 times at the breast, though these sessions have mostly become "snacky," not prolonged feedings like in the beginning (he is a very solid eater, so he derives most of his nutrition from full meals). We co-sleep, but at night, after he goes down with milk, he wakes up only once for a little booby juice.
On July 28th, I had my first period post-partum, and while normal, it seemed just little bit shorter than usual. I was expecting to get it again around August 28th (I was always like clockwork - nearly down to the hour!), but as of today, it still has not come. I have been increasingly irritable, seem to be a bit bloated in the belly (might have even put on a pound or two), and I have been experiencing on and off a white, milky discharge (not stringy, though, like fertile mucous). The weirdest thing is I have had excessive saliva (never had that in the first pregnancy). No painful breasts, though, no morning sickness (not the first time, either), no other symptoms. So, could I be pregnant? Here's the thing: as my husband was sick, the only time I could have conceived in that month would have been just about 4 days past ovulation. This is why I think I can't possibly be.
I know the obvious thing to do is take a test, and I suppose I will eventually, but I am almost afraid to, because if it's negative, I'll be disappointed! I almost would like to know first and then take it. I know that sounds lame!
For others who conceived while breastfeeding, did it go something like this? I nearly think that the baby is feeding a little more than usual, not less, so he clearly hasn't been turned off by the milk.
