If you haven't heard this heartbreaking story yet, prepare yourself. A nanny was arrested for killing two children in her care, and then tried to kill herself :( The mom discovered it after coming home from taking a third child to a swimming lesson. The father of the family is an executive at Comcast/NBC; it's hitting our NY iVillage offices pretty hard, especially for those who know the family.
I just can't wrap my head around how something like this happens. I've had my children in daycare before, and know how hard it is to put your faith in another to take care of your children. The article said that the nanny had been employed by them for 2 years, and even has a son of her own. How do you ever see something like this coming? What are things to look for in your caregiver, are there warning signs that it's time to look elsewhere for childcare?
How do you build trust with your caregiver?
