It has been very quiet since the relaunch of the boards. I know I have had some trouble logging in when I try from different computers. Some work and some don't.  If you see this and can log-on please respond so I can see who's lurking and who's able to participate. I need everyone to respond to gage participation and interest. If you can't log-on try a different computer or at least contact iVillage about your problems.

I really wonder if there are any teachers left that are working and have the time and motivation to participate here.  Several of our regulars from the past have lost jobs or changed carers completely. Some are reconsidering education as a career. Many are hanging on by a thread. Teachers I know are stressed and frustrated beyond belief. In my former district they have had over 40 meetings in the first first 50 or so days of school. Teachers are crying by the end of the day and one walked in and resigned effective immediately. Even principals are looking for jobs outside of education and openly interviewing. In my current district I haven't seen any tears but the meetings are non-stop. There is little prep time becasue of more meetings and it's all about teaching the test, assessments to see what needs remediation and more teaching the test. Many say they now hate their jobs and several are planning to take early retirement.

I guess I'm wondering if there is any time to participate or interest in maintaing this board. We can't help others if we can't help ourselves or if we no longer have an interest in furthering a career in education as it exists today.  Have we all reached the end of the road? How can we continue to help each other? Any suggestions or comments?
