Now that Daylight Savings Time is over, when I go home at night it's dark. My route from the Studio is from a highway that changes to residential streets, so the speed limit goes from 60 to 45, right near a volunteer fire house.
Last evening I was driving home and, thankfully, had started to slow down near the firehouse and put on my brights (there are very few streetlights where I live). Just as I slowed down a large deer ran right in front of my car....I'm just glad that there was no traffic in the opposite direction. When I got to my community and turned on to my street I saw a doe walking slowly across the street....I knew that there was probably another one following so I stopped and, sure enough, there was another deer on the side of the road. We kind of looked at each other for a few seconds...I didn't want to move because I thought she might bolt...but eventually she started her slow walk across the road too.
I'm going to be driving much slower in the next few weeks....
